
LYNX Blue Line Extension
Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) Blue Line Extension project is a 9.3-mile alignment that extends from 7th Street Station in Center City through the North Davidson and University areas, terminating on the UNC Charlotte campus. The service will operate generally within the existing railroad right of way, remaining within the North Tryon Street (US 29) right of way from Old Concord Road north, terminating on the UNC Charlotte campus. Service is expected to begin in 2018.miles.
The project includes adding 11 stations with 3,000 parking spaces at 4 park-and-ride lots. All station platforms are approximately 300 feet long to accommodate a 3-car train set. All stations will have canopy coverage, covered ticket vending machines, system and area maps, train and bus schedules, public art, bicycle storage, benches, trash receptacles and security features. This project is within the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) New Start Program. Rohadfox serves as a subconsultant on the Blue Line Extension project, providing the following services above.
